Crime Bulletin: 03-073
The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail is seeking assistance in the arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible for the homicide of Maurice Matthews. This incident occurred on Sunday April 13th 2003, at 45 Bertha Lane. The suspects in this case drove a vehicle into the block, which was at the time heavily traveled by residents and small children. When Maurice Matthews approached this vehicle, the suspects fired several rounds, striking Mr. Matthews twice. After running a short distance, Maurice Matthews fell to the ground mortally wounded. He died while being transported to San Francisco General Hospital. This assault was conducted in broad daylight, with absolutely no regard for the safety of other persons present in the area.
Inspectors assigned to this homicide are hoping to locate any persons who may have seen or have other knowledge regarding this homicide. Assistance from any persons who may have been present on Bertha Lane at the time of this homicide would be especially helpful.
