Subject: POLICE OFFICERS TO TAKE STUDENTS TO EBONY FASHION FAIR
Police officers will accompany 15 Phillip and Sala Burton High School students to dinner and to the 45th Annual Ebony Fashion Fair on Saturday, April 12. Before taking the students to the fashion show, the students will assemble at Bayview Police Station, 201 Williams Street, from 2:30 to 3:15 P.M. They will later be treated by the officers for a dinner at the Spinnaker restaurant in Sausalito, beginning at 4:00 P.M. Afterward the students and officers will arrive at the fashion show at the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael at 7:00 P.M.
This special evening, a wholly new experience for the students, is part of the activities of a sorority, Sigma Phi, that SFPD School Resource Officers, in conjunction with the SFPD’s Operation Dream, have established at the school. The sorority aims to equip students academically and socially through specific instructional and support programs, including involvement in community service.
The evening will be an opportunity for the media to witness the excitement of these students, who rarely, if ever, have been outside of the city, on their big night of fine dining and glamorous fashion entertainment.
