Subject: SAN FRANCISCO POLICE ARREST “HOT TUB ROBBER”
On Sunday, August 24, members of Northern Police Station’s Street Crimes Unit arrested a man believed to be responsible for a series of robberies at The Hot Tubs, 2200 Van Ness Avenue. A three-month investigation led to the arrest of William Rentie, 34, of San Francisco, for these robberies, the last of which occurred Friday, August 22. The Hot Tubs had been robbed on six separate occasions over the past three months, and police believe that Rentie was responsible for each incident. In each of these incidents the suspect entered the premises in broad daylight, terrorizing employees while emptying the cash register.
The police department credits alert employees who provided important suspect description information and a cooperative effort between the Patrol Force and the Investigations Bureau for Rentie’s apprehension.
