PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE
PRESS RELEASE

November 12, 2003
03-102

Subject:    POLICE ARREST TWO SERIES ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police arrested two suspects involved in a series of robberies and fraud November 8 after investigators collected evidence implicating the two men.  Roy Sechong and Christian Piquero were taken into custody at Jessie and Mint after they had committed two armed robberies in the Northern and Central police districts earlier that day.  The two men are believed responsible for at least four earlier robberies in the same police districts. The men targeted women walking after dark and carrying bags and purses.  Because of the gun the suspects used, the robbery series was dubbed the Silencer Series.

The two suspects used personal information obtained in the robberies to commit a series of fraud.

The Department credits the success of this investigation to the detailed and accurate descriptions provided by the victims, as well as a cooperative effort between the Investigations Bureau, Special Operations, and Patrol.
