Subject: Arrest In Synagogue Arson Case
San Francisco police, assisted by the Santa Clara County Fire Department, arrested a suspect in Santa Clara late yesterday afternoon, May 12, for the arson that had occurred that day at about 12:30 P.M. at Chabod House synagogue, 2950 Anza Street, in San Francisco. Avi Langer, 33, remains in custody in San Francisco. He has been charged with arson, possession of inflammable material, burglary, grand theft, and the possession of stolen property. Police found a Torah in Langer’s possession that had been taken from the synagogue. San Francisco police worked in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco’s arson division to develop information that led to the arrest of Langer.
