Subject: Operation Impact To Begin June 18
Starting Friday evening, June 18, and continuing through the weekend, the California Highway Patrol will again be participating in Operation Impact to work with the San Francisco Police Department in traffic enforcement and to help reduce crime. The area of focus this weekend will be the Taraval police district.
Operation Impact is a collaborative effort between the San Francisco Police Department and CHP, and has proved effective in helping to curtail what are often precursors to violence, for example, reckless driving, DUI, weapons possession, loitering and narcotics use and sales.
Operation Impact will continue throughout the summer, with the targeted police district varying.
The CHP is the latest agency to work with the SFPD in anti-violence efforts. The SFPD routinely works with other law enforcement agencies, such as Probation, Parole and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the addition of the CHP constitutes another pro-active resource in helping to prevent crime in the city.
