Subject: Internet Crimes Against Children Arrest
The San Francisco Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) today arrested David A. Ruiz, 18, of San Francisco, for an attempted lewd act on a child under the age of 14.
ICAC Unit members became aware that Ruiz had contacted several young girls through the Internet, attempting to entice them to meet him for sex. Ruiz contacted an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl, and both agreed to a meeting in Dolores Park, where Ruiz was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
Ruiz has been charged with an attempted lewd act on a child under 14, attempted kidnapping for the purpose of committing lewd acts on a minor under 14, and attempting to send harmful matter to a minor.
The ICAC Unit continues its investigations into sexual predators who use the Internet to attempt sexual liaisons with children.
