Subject:    San Francisco Police Make Arrest In Early Morning Shooting

San Francisco police arrested a man and a woman involved in a shooting that occurred at about 2:45 A.M. this morning, September 17, at Sunset Boulevard and Judah Street.  In this incident, the suspects in a vehicle were following the male victim in his car, who in turn was driving behind the victim’s employee driving her car. When the victim stopped his car at the intersection of Sunset and Judah, the male suspect got out of the car in which he was the passenger and fired at the victim, striking him in the stomach.  The victim is being treated at a  hospital. The employee, who witnessed the shooting, called 911 on her cell phone.

The victim was able to drive to Taraval Police Station.  Police were able to quickly locate and stop the suspect vehicle a short while later at Sunset and Vicente and take the suspects into custody.

San Francisco police had arrested today’s shooting suspect in October 2003 for extortion against this morning’s victim.  The court case had been proceeding, with a court trial date set for next month. Taken into custody were Ban Tsan, 25, and Safia Bubarak, 27.  Tsan has been charged with attempted murder, dissuading a witness from giving testimony, various weapons charges, and conspiracy.  Bubarak was charged with attempted murder, dissuading a witness from testimony, conspiracy, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

This is all the information available at this time.
