Subject: DUI Checkpoint October 29
The San Francisco Police Department, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday, October 29, on Lombard Street beginning at The exact location on Lombard will be released two hours prior to commencement of the checkpoint operation.
This operation is part of the statewide Safe & Sober/AVOID Program, which is aimed at reducing the number of alcohol-related injuries from traffic collisions; increasing the number of arrests for driving under the influence; and educating the motoring public regarding the dangers of driving under the influence. Officers will also use this opportunity to enforce California’s mandatory seat belt and child safety seat laws.
Funding for this program has been provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
