Subject:     Annual Unity Day Parade December 11


Police Chief Heather Fong and Bayview Station Captain Rick Bruce will be participating in the eighth annual Unity Day Parade and Celebration on Saturday, December 11, starting at Gilman Park at Gilman Avenue and Hawes Street at 12 noon and proceeding to the Bayview Opera House, 4705 Third Street, where there will be a celebration, including entertainment and a toy giveaway, from 12:30 P.M to 4:00 P.M.  Also participating in the parade and celebration will be District Attorney Kamala Harris and Supervisor Sophie Maxwell.

The Unity Day Parade and Celebration is sponsored by San Francisco Neighborhood Safety Partnership (NSP) and Safety Awareness for Everyone (SAFE). 

The Unity Day Celebration has become a tradition for the Bayview community for the past eight years, highlighting and celebrating the unity and pride of the many people who live in the Bayview and Hunters Point districtss.  Unity Day provides a positive alternative to the many challenges these neighborhoods face.
