Subject:     Police Release Composite Sketch Of Suspect In Hotel Stabbing And Attempted Robbery


San Francisco Police today released a composite sketch of the suspect responsible for a  stabbing and attempted robbery attack on a guest at a hotel yesterday, May 23, at about 6:30 P.M. at 1231 Market Street.  In this attack, the suspect had been lingering in the seventh-floor hallway when the victim and his wife alighted from the elevator.

After the couple entered their room, the suspect knocked on their door.  When the husband opened the door, the suspect forced his way in.  In the ensuring struggle, the victim was stabbed. A hotel guest helped the victim and his wife into the elevator to the lobby.  The suspect escaped from the hotel.

The victim, an eighty-year-old man from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, suffered stab wounds on his arms and hands.  He was treated at San Francisco General Hospital and released. His wife, 75, was not injured.

The suspect is described as African-American, 30s to 40s, 5’8” to 6’, l70-180 lbs., muscular build, wearing a burgundy-colored shirt and matching pants.  The sketch is available on the SFPD Web site, sfgov.org/police.  Any one with information is urged to contact police.  Persons may contact the Police Department’s Confidential Tip Line, 415-575-4444.
