Subject: Pit Bull Attacks Two Girls

San Francisco Police are investigating a pit bull attack that occurred yesterday, Tuesday, July 18, on Jennings Street at Revere Avenue in the Bayview District at about 4:30 P.M. In this incident, two sisters, 13 and 14 years old, saw an unleashed pit bull accompanied by a boy about 14 years old approach them on the sidewalk. The dog attacked each of the girls, biting one girl in the forearm and the other in the abdomen. It is not clear at this point what caused the attack. An unidentified man came to the girls' aid, hitting the dog with a wrench-like tool. The dog ran off and the boy left the scene prior to the arrival of the police.

The victims were treated at a local hospital and released. Police continue to search for the dog, a brown and gray female, and continue its search for the boy who was with the dog.

There is no further information at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Inspector Joe Clemons, Juvenile Division, 558-5537.
