Subject:

San Francisco Police Officers To Participate In Memorial Service

On December 14, 2006, members of the San Francisco Police Department will participate in a nationwide memorial service. This annual memorial service has been expanded this year to include over 230 State and National Cemeteries and will honor our country's fallen service members.

Fifteen years ago, The Arlington Wreath Project was started by the Worcester Wreath Company in Maine. This annual event involves placing a holiday wreath on over 5,000 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery, to honor and remember this country's fallen military officers.

This service will take place at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio at 0900 Hours and will begin with a national moment of silence. The ceremony will also include the laying of six wreaths, one for each branch of the armed services and one for POW/MIA service personnel, and will conclude with a short speech.
