San Francisco Police Make Seven Arrests In Three Weekend Killings


San Francisco Police have made arrests in three killings that occurred in San Francisco over the April 13-16 weekend.

In the first incident, which occurred on Friday, April 13, at about 7:00 P.M., and which police believe is gang-related, seven suspects chased the victim, a 16-year-old male, into a doughnut shop at Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street, where the victim was shot. All the suspects fled. Police apprehended four of the suspects, all juveniles, a short while later. The victim was later pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital. Police arrested one suspect, Jason Santillan, 25, this morning, April 16, while he was appearing in a San Francisco criminal court on an unrelated firearms charge. Two suspects remain at large.

In the second incident, which occurred on Saturday, April 14, a few minutes past midnight, a wheelchair-bound suspect began shooting at another male on the 300 block of Ellis Street. In the shooting, five persons were shot. Fatally injured was a 54-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at SFGH. The other four, three males and one female, all adults, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Taken into custody was Walter Simon, 32, of Richmond. He remains in custody on one count of homicide, four counts of attempted homicide and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

San Francisco Police have also made an arrest in a killing that occurred early Monday, April 16, at about 12:30 A.M. In this incident, after committing a suspected burglary and being spotted by police, the suspect fled in a vehicle through a stop sign, colliding with another driver, a male adult, who was killed in the collision. Taken into custody at SFGH was Luis Lara, 18, of San Francisco He has been charged with one count of homicide and one count of burglary.
