Subject:

San Francisco Police Department Security And Traffic Advisory During All-Star Baseball Events July 6-11

During the Major League All-Star Baseball event, beginning Friday, July 6 through Wednesday, July 11, there will be increased security and traffic restrictions at the venues and in the immediately surrounding areas. There will be a significant law enforcement presence at the local, state and federal levels during this time to provide a safe environment for All-Star attendees at all the events. The law enforcement presence will be in the areas of Moscone Center West and from Pier 30-32 on the Embarcadero, south to AT&T Park and the ballpark's vicinity.

AT&T Park.

Ballpark security. All persons entering AT&T Park for All-Star events will be subject to magnetometer and and/or wanding security checks. Patrons at these events should allow extra time to allow for security procedures to be completed.

McCovey Cove security. The SFPD Marine Unit, in conjunction with the U. S. Coast Guard, has established a security zone for McCovey Cove/China Basin Channel during MLB All-star events July 7-10. A limited number of pre-screened official vessels, including ferries, law enforcement and media vessels will be permitted to enter the security zone. Public access to the security zone will be limited to human-powered watercraft, 20 feet or less in length (including kayaks and canoes). The number of such watercraft will be limited for security purposes.

There will be two points of entry for the security zone, one at the Third Street Bridge and one on the southeastern side of the Cove. There will be booms (floats) to mark points of entry and exit. Individuals and watercraft will be prohibited from entering the water directly from the shores of McCovey Cove. All watercraft must be launched from the official All-Star launch or from other legal launches outside the security zone. In order to maintain a safe and secure environment in McCovey Cove, the Giants are requesting that all watercraft be pre-registered in order to gain entry into the security zone. To register your watercraft or register to use the official all-star launch, please visit www.sfgiants.com/mccoveycove, or e-mail McCoveyCove@sfgiants.com to request a registration form. Registered boaters will receive a commemorative MLB All-Star decal for each All-Star event they participate in.
