Update In Reward Anouncement For Information In Canadian Victim hit and Run Incident

UPDATE IN REWARD ANOUNCEMENT FOR INFORMATION IN CANADIAN VICTIM HIT AND RUN INCIDENT

San Francisco Police investigators have identified the kind of car that struck and killed Canadian Navy Lieutenant Mark Ashley in a hit and run incident that occurred last month. On Saturday, August 18, Lieutenant Ashley was crossing the Embarcadero at Howard Street at about 1:50 A.M. when a driver hit him and did not stop. Through evidence left at the scene, investigators have determined that the vehicle was a mid-80s gray or silver, four-door Mercedes-Benz. The impact likely left front end and passenger side damage. There is a $10,000 reward authorized by the Office of the Mayor for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect responsible for Lieutenant Ashley's death.

Anyone with information about this incident, the suspect vehicle, and/or driver is urged to contact Inspector Jim Custer, 553-9516, or Inspector Dean Taylor, 553-1215, of the Hit and Run Detail, or to call the Confidential Tip Line, 415-575-4444.

SFPD Crime Bulletin 07-90 has been updated with color photographs of the vehicle and victim.
