SFPD And Academy Of Art University Hold Reception And Screening of Recruitment Commercials On October 23

The San Francisco Police Department collaborated with San Francisco Academy of Art University to produce six recruiting commercials that can also be used as Public Service Announcements. The Academy of Art University will hold a special screening on October 23rd 2007, Academy of Art University, 79 New Montgomery Street in San Francisco at 5:30 P.M. to showcase the commercials to the public. Admission is free.

A committee comprised of SFPD, the Department of Human Resources, and the San Francisco Police Officers Association oversaw this project which the University's Motion Picture and Television Program students volunteered their services to film and produce. San Francisco Police Officers were cast to star in the 30 second commercials which show each one as real people. The Academy of Art students, faculty and alumni filmed these officers at locations selected to showcase the beautiful San Francisco landscape. The goal of the recruitment commercials and public service announcements is to portray San Francisco Police Officers as ordinary people by highlighting their personal interests while showcasing San Francisco. The commercials were shot in Crissy Field, Golden Gate Park, Potrero Hill, the Bayview District, and other locations throughout the city.
