San Francisco Police Arrest Serial Arson Suspect
San Francisco Police Arson inspectors have arrested the suspect responsible for a series of arsons. Taken into custody by Arson Inspectors Jeff Levin and Darcy Keller after service of a search warrant on February 5, 2008 was Vaughn Jones, 45, of San Francisco. Continued investigation on the part of Arson inspectors linked Jones to nine arson incidents since May 2006.
All of the arsons occurred in various parts of San Francisco, primarily in the Excelsior, Richmond and Taraval districts, with the exception of two arsons in Daly City. All of the arsons were residential, with the exception of one vehicle arson. The targets were relatives and friends of the suspect's former girl friend. In most of the incidents, the suspect used a firebomb thrown through a window or poured gasoline through a mail slot. Fortunately, there were no injuries in any of these incidents.

July 5, 2006 100 block Shipley Ave. Dec. 2, 2007 500 block Hanover, D.C.
June 1, 2007 500 block College Ave. Dec. 14, 2007 100 block Shipley Ave.
Sept. 11, 2007 500 block College Ave. Jan. 8, 2008 500 block 47th Ave.
Sept. 27, 2007 900 block Cayuga
Jones has been charged with multiple counts of arson and remains in custody.
