San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect In Three Stabbing Incidents

San Francisco Police arrested a suspect in three separate stabbing incidents in the lower Market Street area within two hours yesterday. Taken into custody July 14 was Duwayne Hyman, 25, of San Francisco.

In the first incident, which occurred at 12:12 P.M., the suspect attempted to take away his cell phone away from a 17-year-old male San Francisco resident in the Montgomery Street BART Station. During the struggle, the suspect got hold of the phone and ran off. The victim then noticed blood on his left side and realized that he had been stabbed.

Later, shortly before 2:00 P.M., a second victim, a male, 38, from Oak Park, Illinois, was walking on Jessie Alley at 1st Street with a friend when the suspect, walking in the opposite direction, deliberately bumped into the victim. The victim and his friend continued walking when the victim suddenly felt pain on his right arm and discovered blood. The victim then flagged down an officer.

Shortly after 2:00 P.M., a third victim, a 40-year-old male San Francisco resident, was on the escalator in the Montgomery Street Muni Station when the suspect stabbed him in the thigh from behind. The victim staggered to the Rite Aid at 776 Market Street and collapsed.

Headquarters broadcast that the suspect may have boarded Muni. Two officers from Tenderloin Station saw someone matching the suspect description on a Muni F Line car at 6th and Market streets. In their search of the suspect, officers found a steak knife in his back pants pocket. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Hyman was charged with multiple counts of assault and robbery and remains in custody.
