Police Academy Graduation July 3

The San Francisco Police Department will be holding a graduation ceremony for the 220th Academy Class on Thursday, July 3, at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 2850-19th Avenue at Sloat Blvd. at 6:00 P.M. There are 40 recruits, including two women, graduating from the class that began December 3, 2007. Eleven of the graduates are bilingual, speaking languages that include Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu (Pakistan), Amharic (Ethiopia), Tibetan and Gaelic.

The graduates include military veterans, a former fire fighter, and a former fisheries biologist.

The 220th Class will have completed 31 weeks of Academy training. Following the graduation, the newly sworn officers will begin a 17-week field-training program at the Department's district stations.
