San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect In September 23 Robbery Series

San Francisco Police arrested a suspect in three robberies that occurred on Tuesday night, September 23. Taken into custody was Kareem Lacayo, 18, of San Francisco.

The first incident occurred on the 300 block of Beacon Street at 10:00 P.M. The suspect confronted two male victims, 29 and 33 years old, who were standing on the sidewalk. The suspect brandished a handgun at the victims and demanded their property. After the victims complied, the suspect got into a waiting car driven by a second suspect.

At approximately 11:45 P.M. on the 300 block of Waller Street, the suspect pointed a handgun at the chest of a 33-year-old Asian male, as he was waiting for a ride to come pick him up. After robbing the victim of his property, the suspect got into a black sedan driven by a second suspect.

The third incident occurred on 17th Street at Sanchez just before midnight. Two male victims, 28 and 41 years old, were standing together on the sidewalk when the suspect approached them and demanded the backpack of the 28-year-old victim. The suspect brandished a handgun while a second suspect approached on foot and wrested the backpack from the victim. Both suspects then fled in a 2004 black Audi that was parked nearby.

The 41-year-old victim made note of the license plate and called police with the number. Mission Station units located the suspect vehicle at 15th and Church streets and saw the passenger get out of the car. Police attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped away at a high rate of speed. A witness saw Lacayo discard the handgun at 18th Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

The driver finally crashed into a parked car and a building on the 2100 block of Harrison Street, where Lacayo was arrested.

Among the charges are multiple charges of robbery, assault, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded weapon, and receiving stolen property. Lacayo remains in custody. The second suspect, described as a Hispanic male, with shoulder-length curly hair, thin mustache, and wearing a dark-green hoodie, remains at large.
