San Francisco Police Arrest 16 Suspects In Weekend Robberies

San Francisco Police arrested 16 suspects in 11 robbery incidents from Friday, December 12 through Sunday, December 15.

Two of the robbery incidents were Muni related. On Friday, two San Francisco juveniles, 16 and 17 years old, were arrested after the 16-year-old suspect, saying Merry Christmas, grabbed the cell phone off the person of 23-year-old male passenger and punched him. The suspects got off the light rail vehicle at Civic Center and they were taken into custody in the station after the victim described the suspects to authorities. They remain in custody on robbery and conspiracy charges.

In the second Muni-related incident, three suspects confronted a 37-year-old San Francisco man walking on Mission at 30th streets early Saturday at about 12:30 A.M. and one of the suspects robbed him of cash. The victim described the suspects to police and officers observed two suspects matching the description on a Muni bus at 30th and Dolores streets. One suspect, David Ramirez, 20, of San Francisco, was arrested and charged with robbery. Police detained the second suspect, a 19-year-old male.

In the earliest incident on Friday, December 12, shortly after 1:00 A.M., six suspects beat a 40-year-old San Francisco man on the 1700 block of Haight Street and stole his wallet when he refused a request from one of the suspects for a cigarette. Police searched the area and were able to arrest one of the suspects, Dontae Finney, 31, no local address.

Later on Friday, at 2:25 A.M., two men confronted a 34-year-old San Francisco man on the 600 block of Ashbury Street, as he was walking his bicycle. One of the suspects tried to take his bicycle away from him and struck him with a bottle in the area of his left eye. Police located the suspects a short while later at Haight and Ashbury streets. Taken into custody were Kinga Tenzin, 22, of Oakland, and Chhiring Lama, 21, of San Francisco. Both were charged with attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Later in the day on Friday, at approximately 12:30 P.M., six suspects attempted to rob an 18-year-old male victim of his i-Pod. Police located three of the suspects a little later on the 4700 block of Mission. Taken into custody were three juveniles, 13, 14, and 17 years old, all of San Francisco.

At 8:00 P.M. Friday night, a man refused to pay for a meal at a restaurant on the 2300 block of Market St. When the manager confronted the suspect outside the restaurant, the suspect struck him. The manager managed to detain the suspect until police arrived. Taken into custody was Jimmy Owens, 32, no local address. He was charged with robbery because defrauding an innkeeper using force technically constitutes a robbery.

At 8:55 P.M. Friday night, police arrested Andrew Blueford, 50, of San Francisco, after he robbed a 22-year-old San Rafael man of cash and cell phone. Police located Blueford a short while later at Webster and Fell streets. He remains in custody on a robbery charge.

The last incident on Friday occurred at approximately 10:30 P.M. on Olive Street at Van Ness Avenue. In this incident, four suspects, two males and two females, confronted the victim, a 19-year-old Redwood City man, as he smoked a cigarette on the sidewalk and robbed him of his wallet. Police arrested one of the suspects, a 14-year-old San Francisco juvenile at Franklin and California streets. Police also detained two other suspects.

On Saturday, December 13, shortly after 11:00 P.M. an 18-year-old Daly city man was waiting for a bus at Mission Street at Geneva Avenue when two suspects approached him and demanded money. Fearing for his life, he surrendered his cash. A witness called police who arrived and arrested William McGee IV, 20, of San Francisco, and detained a 20-year-old Richmond City man. McGee was charged with robbery.

Police arrested two men on Sunday, December 14, after they robbed a 26-year-old San Francisco man at a restaurant on the 3300 block of Mission Street at 2:00 A.M. after the victim went to the restaurant's bathroom. The suspects took his cash and cell phone and also struck him on his head with a bottle. Police units quickly responded and located two suspects hiding in the patio area of the restaurant. Taken into custody were Miguel Florentino, 30, and Omar Perez, 29, both of San Francisco. They were charged with robbery and assault.
