Subject: Operation Dream Conducts 15th Annual Christmas Toy Drive
The San Francisco Police Department’s Operation Dream, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving impoverished youth in the city, will be conducting its 15th annual Christmas Toy Drive event this holiday season.
Every year, police officers see hundreds of children of families whose holiday season is marred by poverty, loss of employment, life-threatening illnesses, and the devastating effects of violent crime in their neighborhoods. Operation Dream is teaming up with the San Francisco Toy and Bicycle Campaign 2009, sponsored by ministers of various churches, Clear Channel Radio, and Phillip Sala Burton High School, to bring some joy to a child this holiday season. San Francisco Toy and Bicycle Campaign 2009 will be conducting a press conference on Friday, October 9, at Phillip Sala Burton High School, 400 Mansell Street, at 11:15 A.M.
To support Operation Dream citizens can:
- Donate a brand new, unwrapped toy or bicycle at the barrel receptacle at any district police station (no toy guns or war toys).
- Conduct a holiday party to collect toys or raise funds, and an SFPD officer will pick up the donations.
Mail a tax-deductible donation to Operation Dream, 3401-17th Street, San Francisco CA 94110.
- Come to the Toy Drive event at the San Francisco 49ers-Cardinals game on December 14. Officers and community volunteers will be on hand to accept donations.
For more information, please contact Lt. Michael Slade, Operation Dream, 678- SFPD (7373), or the Rev. Ishmael Burch, 822-7728 or 240-0313.
