APRIL 4, 2012 REGULAR MEETING
The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:37 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Mazzucco, Marshall, DeJesus, Chan, Kingsley, Slaughter, Turman
‐ Presentation of Certificates of Appreciation
Taken out of order.
Chief Suhr gave a brief summary of the incident and went on to present Special Agent Sparrow and Crime Analyst Sparelli with Certificates of Appreciation.
Ray Hartz, SF Open Government, showed a newspaper article regarding a public meeting and someone filing a complaint against him. He went on to discuss concerns regarding his public record request.
Emile Lawrence express concern about notice of meeting and went on to talk about crimes relating to illegal immigrants (documents submitted).
Ace Washington spoke in regards to a homicide in the Western Addition and suggested to have a public meeting with the African American community.
Clyde spoke in regards to the shooting in Florida and recent homicides in the city.
Unidentified spoke in regards to Mr. Hartz’s comments and freedom of speech.
REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Chief’s Report
‐ Review of recent activities
Chief Suhr gave a brief update on recent events within the Department and upcoming events this coming weekend.
Commissioner Mazzucco spoke of Inspector Bastiani’s 55 years of service with the Police Department. Chief Suhr then went on to present him with his Certificate of Honorable Retirement.
Chief Suhr also spoke of recent homicides and shootings. The Chief also spoke in regards to a recent budget meeting with the Mayor.
‐ Status update regarding recommendations made during the joint meeting with the Youth Commission
Chief Suhr then went on to update the Commission in regards to recommendations made by the Youth Commission.
The Youth Commission’s Mario Yedidia presented the Youth Commission’s presentation regarding their recommendations.
Captain Barrett spoke briefly about the Department’s timeline in implementing the training recommendation. Draft training within 90 days and training implemented within 6 months.

Inspector Monroe announced that the Commission will meet in the Taraval District on April 25, 2012 at the AP Giannini Middle School, 3151 Ortega Street, at 6 p.m.
DISCUSSION REGARDING ANTICIPATED ATTRITION RATES AND FUTURE STAFFING PLAN
Commissioner DeJesus asked that a presentation be made to the Commission in regards to attrition and talked about a few ideas to deal with future staffing plans.
Emile Lawrence spoke in regards to salaries and pensions of fire and police personnel.
Sulu Balega, District 10, spoke in support of the police and stated that more police are needed.
Motion by Commissioner Turman, second by Commissioner Kingsley. Approved 7‐0
Thereafter, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
