On April 23, 2012 at 8:21 AM, Officers from Bayview Police Station responded to a report of a break in and beating at a residence on the 1100 block of Ingerson Avenue. The resident told 911 Dispatchers that a male suspect had broken into his house and beat him with a metal bar. The victim had been in the shower when the suspect appeared suddenly, confronting him as he bathed. The suspect struck the victim repeatedly with a metal bar before fleeing the residence.

Responding officers saw a person matching the suspect’s description in the area. The suspect fled on foot and officers gave chase. As officers caught up to the suspect on the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Avenue, he threw a metal bar over a fence. The suspect resisted arrest as officers attempted to take him into custody. The metal bar was recovered as evidence. Two officers were injured while taking the suspect into custody.

Officers responding to the initial scene found the victim, a 32 year old San Francisco resident, bleeding from the injuries sustained in the attack. The victim identified the suspect and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. One of the injured officers sustained lacerations and the other a hand injury as a result of the suspect’s resisting arrest.

Police booked De Angelo Winston 22, a San Francisco resident for: burglary, attempted robbery, attempted homicide, possession of a burglary tool and resisting arrest.
