Attempted Kidnapping of Young Female in the Ingleside District

On April 26, 2012, at approximately 7:40 AM, the victim, a 16-year old female, was walking on the 5700 block of Mission St. on her way to school. The victim was approached and grabbed from behind by the suspect. The suspect demanded the victim leave with him. A struggle ensued and the victim was able to fight off the suspect and ran from the area. The suspect was last seen running south on Mission St. The victim immediately reported the incident to school authorities, who contacted police. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned male, possibly Hispanic, early 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. The suspect has dark bushy hair and a thin mustache.

The San Francisco Police Department is asking for anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and contact us on our anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or, “Text-a-Tip,” to TIP411.

We want to remind the public to ensure the safety of our children by heeding some safety tips:

• Always be alert to your surroundings. Be wary of a stranger deliberately approaching you.
• Walk with a family member or friend, especially after dark.
• If a stranger demands you follow him or her, or attempts to physically restrain you, do not comply, scream for help, run and immediately contact the police.
